They’ve been described as pioneers – a group of Orthodox Jewish families from Stamford Hill who have moved to Essex to start a new community. They say it has become impossible to afford the large type properties needed for jewish orthodox families within the Stamford Hill area.
Now, seven families have become the first group to move to Canvey Island in Essex. They want to create a satellite community on the Island with as many as 50 or 60 families. As part of the new community an independent Jewish school, synagogue and other facilities will be built on the site of a former school.
